Korea MEPS Energy Efficiency Certification
Korea MEPS Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency labels and labels are energy performance information affixed to the product, which is used to represent the energy consumption, energy efficiency, energy saving level and cost of the product, so as to provide consumers with the necessary energy efficiency guidance and advice when purchasing the product. Energy efficiency labeling generally includes assurance labeling, comparison labeling and information labeling.
South Korea's energy efficiency and labeling work began in 1992, the South Korean government to encourage energy-saving products have the following measures: first, mandatory use in government agencies, the Prime Minister issued a special “ Promote energy conservation in government institutions ” All government agencies must make the use of energy-efficient equipment mandatory. Second, priority is given to the purchase of energy-efficient and energy-saving products. The third is to provide low-interest long-term loans to consumers who buy energy-saving certified products. Fourth, the Korea Electric Power Company has certain concessions for consumers who buy energy-saving certified products.
Energy consumption rating marking system
System Summary
The Energy consumption rate rating system is a mandatory system that grades products from 1 to 5 according to energy consumption rate or energy use and meets the Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS).
Its purpose is to make it easier for consumers to choose energy-efficient products; A system that also encourages producers (importers) to produce and sell energy-saving products from the production (import) stage.
In order to expand the popularization of energy-saving products, the energy consumption rate rating labeling system for domestic producers (domestic) and domestic importers (imports) bear the following three obligations: (1) the obligation to label the energy consumption rate rating; ② Have the obligation to declare products; ③ To meet the minimum consumption rate standards.
① According to the energy consumption rate or use of the product is divided into 1 to 5 grades, marked with labels.
② The product should be declared after testing.
③ The production and sale of products that do not reach Grade 5 are prohibited (subject to the minimum consumption rate standard).
It is a minimum energy efficiency standard set by the government to prevent the spread of inefficient products and to promote technological development of manufacturers. If it does not meet the standards, it is prohibited to produce or sell in the country. The minimum consumption rate of 21 products will be imposed, and those who violate it will be fined up to 20 million won.
