CSA Certified Factory review
Purpose of factory inspection
1. Whether the CSA mark only appears on products that have been certified by CSA;
2, whether the factory continues to maintain the ability to produce CSA products in accordance with CSA certification report requirements and related standards;
3. Whether the factory has received effective assistance from CSA;
4. Whether the factory has been notified of the latest procedures and requirements of CSA and its effective date
5. Whether the nonconformities found in the previous inspection have been corrected;
6. When the factory has the production of CSA certified products, whether the terms and agreements related to CSA are implemented.
Frequency of factory inspection
For plants that use only the CSA mark, a twice-yearly unannounced factory inspection is required.
For plants using the CSA/CUS or CSA/NRTL mark, four unannounced plant inspections per year are required.
Content of factory inspection
The factory shall provide two factory contacts who will accompany and assist the CSA inspector during the factory inspection. The inspection content mainly includes five aspects: management, technology, product, production testing and sampling, which are introduced as follows:
1. Management:
A. Confirm whether the information of the applicant, factory (name and address) and contact person has changed;
b. Confirm whether the certification record has been changed and whether the cancellation of CSA certification products has been implemented;
c. Discuss CSA certification services and related issues with factory representatives;
d. For factories with Label Service, check the number of remaining CSA labels and related series numbers;
e. For factories with Label Licensing, check whether the method of recording the label usage is correct and whether the factory truthfully reports the label usage to the CSA headquarters;
f, handle the related affairs of the Standby factory and the factory under the 6336 program;
g, help the factory to cancel documents, change information and other matters.
2, technical:
A. Discuss technical issues related to CSA certification report with factory representatives;
b. Discuss with factory representatives the latest updates of CSA Certification materials such as Certification Notices, Electrical Bulletins, Informs and Field Actions, and confirm whether the latest requirements of CSA are implemented;
c) Discuss with the factory representative the certification technical problems found in the previous inspection and confirm whether the corresponding solutions are implemented.
3, product:
According to the CSA certification report and standards, inspect the finished products, semi-finished products, related components and similar products produced by the factory for CSA products, specifically need to confirm the following:
A. Whether the components and materials are consistent with the certification report;
b, whether the product structure meets the relevant standards;
c, material certification and certification of components and materials;
d. Whether the replacement components and materials meet the requirements
e. Whether the use of the CSA mark, the user manual and the use of the packaging mark meet the requirements of the certification report;
f, whether it meets the requirements of the latest Field Service Action;
g, whether it meets certain additional requirements.
Also: CSA inspectors will visit all CSA production areas to determine the presence of no illegally produced CSA products.
4, production test:
A. Check the production line and warehouse of the factory to confirm whether the CSA mark only appears on the products that have been certified by CSA;
b. Confirm the ability of the factory to carry out CSA factory testing and the calibration of test equipment;
c, check the factory's control procedures for nonconforming products and their actual operation;
d, for some products on-site testing, such as: wires, protective shoes.
5, sampling:
For certain products, such as wires, Christmas lights, protective shoes, etc., CSA inspectors will sample and seal CSA products at the factory site, and the factory will send the samples to CSA headquarters for annual re-testing.
