Battery product testing and certification

Detection service / Battery BIS Certification

BIS (The Bureau of Indian Standards) certification is India's mandatory market access certification. Its form is very similar to the domestic CCC certification, and the test must be carried out in a qualified laboratory in India.

India's BIS is a third-party certification body, and products certified by it will be marked with the ISI label, which has a wide influence in India and neighboring countries, and has a good reputation and is a reliable guarantee of product quality . Once a product is marked with the "ISI mark", it means that it meets the relevant Indian standards, and consumers can buy it with confidence.

After August 13, 2015, all rechargeable batteries for portable products need to be registered with BIS, and Cell only needs to obtain BIS registration separately when conducting commercial transactions in the Indian market.

Certification standard: IS 16046: 2012 Sealed Secondary Cells/Batteries containing Alkaline or other non-acid Electrolyte for use in Portable Applications

Test items:

1. Continuous low-rate charging: Charging for 28 days as specified by the manufacturer
Acceptance criteria: no fire, no explosion, no leakage.
2. Vibration: Simulates the vibration caused by transportation
Acceptance criteria: no fire, no explosion, no leakage.
3. Moulded case stress at high ambient temperature: When the battery is used at high ambient temperature, the internal components cannot be exposed
Acceptance criteria: No physical distortion of the battery case resulting in exposure of internal components.
4. Temperature cycling: The battery is alternately exposed to high and low temperatures and cannot catch fire or explode
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion, no leakage.

5. Incorrect installation of a cell (Nickel system only): Simulates incorrect installation of a single-cell battery in a multi-cell system without causing fire or explosion.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.

6. External short circuit: Short-circuit positive and negative electrodes cannot catch fire or explode.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.

7. Free fall: The battery falls from a height of 1m to the floor and cannot catch fire or explode.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
8. Mechanical shock (crash hazard): Simulates the impact encountered during transportation or handling. No fire, explosion, or leakage.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion, no leakage.
9. Thermal abuse: When the battery is at an extremely high temperature (130 degrees), no fire or explosion .
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
10. Crushing of cells: Give a 13KN force to squeeze the battery. No fire or explosion . Acceptance
criteria: No fire, no explosion.
11. Low pressure: Simulates the low pressure (11.6Kp) encountered during air transportation. No fire or explosion.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion, no leakage.

12. Overcharge for nickel systems: Charge the battery or cell to 250% of the rated capacity at 2.5 times the charging current recommended by the customer without catching fire or exploding

Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
13. Overcharge for lithium systems: Charging for a long time according to the charging method given by the manufacturer, no fire or explosion
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
14. Forced discharge: A single cell in an appliance containing multiple cells must withstand polarity reversal, no fire or explosion
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
15. Cell protection against a high charging rate (lithium systems only): The charger fails or the cells in the battery pack with cells connected in parallel are subjected to excessive charging current, no fire or explosion
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.

IS 16046: 2012 is equivalent to the standard content of IEC 62133: 2002, and there is no difference in the test items.

Xingyuan Electronics has been committed to the development of the international testing and certification market, and has actively sought the best channel for BIS certification by calling on various resources. Services we provide:
