    The CARB regulations are implemented in two phases (Phase 1 and Phase 2), with the first phase (P1), beginning on January 1, 2009, requiring the testing of formaldehyde emissions in sheets using the climate chamber method ASTM E 1333 or ASTM D 6007. It is stipulated that hard plywood (HWPW) must be less than 0.08ppm, particleboard (PB) must be less than 0.18ppm, and medium density fiberboard (MDF) must be less than 0.21ppm. The requirements of the second phase (P2) of the regulation will be implemented gradually from 2010. The regulations not only have requirements for the production of plate factories, furniture factories, importers, traders, retailers have strict requirements.
