MEPS
Australian energy efficiency certification (MEPS)

After the December 1, 2008 (Australia), April 1, 2009 (New Zealand) all AC-AC and AC-DC external power sources that have been brought into or manufactured in the above areas, the minimum energy efficiency standard (MEPS) is required in both the loaded and unloaded conditions.

(Note: the power produced before the above date of implementation is still allowed to continue to be sold).

Applicable products:
External Power Supply(EPS),AC-AC or AC-DC,The input voltage includes the 230VAC, the single output, and within the extra low voltage (ELV:50VAC, or, 60VDC) range, the output does not exceed 250W or 250VA.

The energy consumption performance of electrical products has attracted more attention of ordinary consumers; certification of energy consumption requirements of electrical products has been made in all parts of the world. The EST Certification Center recently launched a MEPS certification for the Australian market. The Australian government's energy requirements include two aspects of energy consumption labeling and minimum energy consumption standards (MEPS).

All of the following electronic products sold in Australia are required to be accompanied by an energy label when they are required to sell:
* refrigerators and ice machines
* washing machine
* dryer
* dishwasher
* air conditioning (single phase forced, three-phase voluntary)

The following products also need to be controlled on the basis of the minimum energy standard (MEPS) - which specifies their minimum energy levels:
* Refrigerators and ice machines (beginning in October 1, 1999, revised in January 1, 2005)
* storage type of main pressure electric water heater (carried out since October 1, 1999)
* Small storage type of main pressure electric water heater (<80L) and low pressure heat exchanger type (from October 1, 2005) (refer to the limits and test methods in AGO)
*Three-phase motor (0.73 kW to <185 kW) (from October 1, 2001 onwards, revised in April 2006)
* single phase air conditioning (from October 1, 2004 onwards, revised in 20062007 and April 1, 2008, respectively)
* a three-phase air conditioner with a cooling power of 65 kw (from October 1, 2001 onwards, revised in October 1, 2007)
* straight tube fluorescent lamp ballast(from 1 March 2003). Note that in addition to the MEPS, the ballast is also required to indicate a performance index (EEI)
* straight fluorescent lamps -Contains 550 millimeters to 1500 millimeters, and lighting power is greater than 16 watts(from October 1, 2004)
* distribution transformers - 11 thousand volts and 22 thousand volts and Class is 10 thousand ampere to 2 trillion and 500 billion volt ampere (from October 1, 2004)
* commercial freezers (self-contained and remote control systems) (from October 1, 2004)

The following products are not yet included in the mandatory catalogue, but in the near future, it is also necessary to comply with energy consumption standards and obtain certification, in which some of the product execution dates have been determined.
* external power supply (from October 1, 2008);
* set-top boxes (beginning in October 1, 2008);
* television;
* home entertainment equipment: (audio and video equipment) (from October 1, 2008);
* hot and cold water dispenser;
* vending machines;
* commercial ice maker;
* lamp series
