WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
In order to improve the management environment of waste electrical and electronic equipment, promote economic circulation, improve resource efficiency, and treat and recycle electronic products at the end of their life cycle, the European Union promulgated the first WEEE Directive (Directive 2002/96/EC) in 2002. It applies to all EU member states, because each EU member state has independently implemented Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE Directive) as national law. Therefore, registration is only valid in the corresponding country/region, and the WEEE code cannot be used in all countries .
Germany is a European country with very strict environmental protection requirements. According to the European WEEE Directive, Germany has introduced the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), requiring that qualified old equipment must be recycled.
