EU ROHS certification - restriction directive of Hazardous Substances

EU ROHS certification (restriction directive of Hazardous Substances) has been scheduled to be implemented in July 1, 2006, From this day, All electronic and electrical equipment for sale in Europe must be in compliance with the requirements of the directive.

The directive stipulates that the restrictions of the Pb、Cd、Cr6+、PBBs、Hg、PBDEs in electronic and electrical products and more harmful substances will be restricted in the future.

The covers range of RoHS certification was AC1000V and DC1500V which are follows:    

1.       Large household appliances: refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, air conditioning, etc.
2.       Small household appliances: vacuum cleaner, electric iron, hair dryer, oven, clock, etc.
3.       IT and communications equipment: computers, fax machines, telephones, mobile phones, etc.
4.       Civil equipment: Radio, television, video recorder, musical instrument, etc.
5.       Lighting: in addition to household lighting fluorescent lamp, lighting control device
6.       Power tools: electric drill, lathe, welding, spray etc.(except the large industrial tools which needs to install)
7.       Toys / entertainment, sports equipment: electric cars, video games
8.       Medical equipment: radiotherapy treatment instrument, ECG testing instrument, analytical instrument, etc.
9.       Monitoring / control device: smoke detector, constant temperature box, factory monitoring and control unit, etc.

The RoHS directive does not apply for 8 and 9  temporary. 

The maximum allowable concentration (threshold) of harmful substances in RoHS certification (2002/95/EC): Cd threshold is 100ppm; Pb, Hg, Cr6+, PBB, PBDE threshold is 1000ppm; The test method also requires the coordination of various countries.

ROHS was forbidden in chemical substances testing and verification services.
